Porridge Bowl

Dublin Core

Title

Porridge Bowl

Description

Allison Marsh purchased this porridge bowl at The Workhouse, a National Trust property in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England. The Workhouse was a Victorian institution of social welfare, providing the "idle & profligate, blameless & deserving, and the old & infirm" a place to live and basic food to eat. The bowl is sized slightly smaller than the portion the residents of the workhouse would receive.
